Some stories are written to be understood. Others are written to leave questions behind.
The Work of Hands: A Second Voice was born from an interest in the things that exist beneath the surface of human nature: the thoughts we never confess, the truths we struggle to accept, and the voices within us that refuse to remain silent.
We often believe that we know ourselves. We give our actions reasons, our memories explanations, and our mistakes names that make them easier to live with. But what happens when the truth no longer fits the version of ourselves we have created?
This is a story about the spaces between what is seen and what is hidden. About the weight of human choices, the complexity of our minds, and the unsettling possibility that understanding something does not always mean we can escape it.
I do not expect every reader to interpret these pages in the same way. Perhaps you will find answers where I intended questions, or questions where you expected answers. Perhaps certain moments will stay with you long after the final page.
And perhaps that is where this story truly begins.
Not in its first chapter, but in the thoughts it leaves behind.
Some voices are never truly silent.
